When you are buying a projector for your home it becomes equally important for choosing the right kind and size of the screen for it too. The projector’s screen plays a very important part in your optimal viewing experience. It not only helps to absorb the light and display the projected image well but the right size of the screen brings clarity and depth to the visuals too. The screen size is chosen based on the size of your room.

Generally, having a bigger screen is common among users if you have a big wall. A screen size that diagonally measures seventy-five inches generally makes it a perfect fit. But sometimes finding seventy-five inches screens are difficult to get. Then, in that case, users try to get the screen that measures the closest to seventy-five inches. But,if you are following this similar practice too then, it is important that you keep in mind a few other factors that will help you choose the right screen size.

  • Distance Of Viewing: Even if you have a big wall, the strategy of buying a big screen may not turn out to be effective. A bigger screen is perfect when you are watching it from a longer distance. If your room is small and the distance from where you are watching the screen is not much then, having a smaller screen shall be more helpful. These days the best projector for home comes with optimal features for viewing so, try to sit in a position that covers at least 30 degrees of your vision.

Otherwise, you can follow the THX guidelines for measuring it. Multiply the size of the screen by 1.2 to enjoy a cinematic viewing angle or else multiply it by 1.6 to get the normal viewing distance. Or else, a distance of three meters of viewing the hundred inches screen shall be the best. And a viewing distance of 3.65 meters is perfect for a 120 inches screen.

  • Aspect Ratio:There are three aspect ratios for projectors which are 2:35:1, 16:9, and 4:3. To select the appropriate aspect ratio you must be aware of the type of content you are viewing and the format that your projector can support. A 4:3 screen view of widescreen content shall bring black bars on the bottom and top of the image. Using the 16:9 screen for anamorphic content shall also require these bars. Again, there are more advanced projectors too which are a little costly but can change their aspect ratios automatically and also offers features for zoom too.

So, based on the size of the room and the viewing distance you must choose the screen size of your projector. Also, take into account the type of lens the projector uses and the level of contrast and brightness you are using while viewing especially the cinematic content.
